The teeth are discovered by digging through ancient fossil beds at the bottom of the ocean. The diving can be extremely challenging, with many risk factors, but our divers are professionals and always safety conscious.

The Megalodon was the largest predator to ever roam the oceans. It’s believed that the Megalodon could grow to over 70ft long.
Of course, this is just an estimate, because the only part of the shark that fossilized was the teeth. A good rule of thumb is that every 1 inch of tooth correlates to 10ft of shark.
Based on this, a 6″ Megalodon tooth most likely came from a 60ft shark!
Megalodon teeth come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, qualities, and colors. However, the two biggest factors in determining the value of a tooth are size and quality.
Larger teeth are more impressive, but also more rare, hence the higher price. Once a tooth reaches the magical 6″ mark, the price can jump significantly due to the rarity of teeth of this size.
Quality is another important factor. A tooth that is perfectly intact with all of its serrations is extremely rare and impressive when you consider that it has been on Earth for over 3.6 million years!
Collectors demand the highest quality teeth, while some people just want to own a Megalodon tooth at an affordable price. At The Fossil Exchange, we have something for everyone.
