Meet the People Behind the Fossils

From The Ocean to You

The Fossil Exchange was founded by two professional divers driven by a deep passion for discovering shark teeth fossils and other prehistoric treasures beneath the Atlantic Ocean. Our journey takes us 40 miles off the coast of North Carolina, where we dive over 110 feet to reach some of the world’s most productive fossil beds.

Navigating strong currents and diving at depth isn’t easy—but the reward is extraordinary. Unearthing a 5.6-million-year-old Megalodon tooth or ancient shark teeth from the ocean floor and holding it in your hand is a powerful connection to Earth’s prehistoric past.

Every Megalodon tooth and shark teeth fossil we offer is 100% authentic and personally recovered by us from the ocean floor—never restored, never fake. This commitment to authenticity has earned us the trust of collectors and fossil enthusiasts across the USA and beyond.

At The Fossil Exchange, we maintain one of the largest selections of shark teeth fossils and marine relics, with options for every budget. From accessible entry-level pieces to world-class collector specimens, our ever-changing inventory ensures there’s something for everyone.

Thanks to our secure and reliable fossil shark teeth USA shipping, collectors can purchase with full confidence knowing their fossils will arrive safely. Each fossil is carefully packaged to preserve its natural beauty and authenticity.

Meet The Owners

At The Fossil Exchange, our story is rooted in a deep love for the ocean—and a passion for discovering shark teeth fossils hidden beneath its surface. The company was born from the shared obsession of two expert divers, Chris and Brett, who turned their mission into a lifelong journey: recovering authentic Megalodon shark teeth fossils from the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. Every expedition takes them over 100 feet underwater and miles off the North Carolina coast, where they carefully extract ancient shark teeth preserved for millions of years. These aren’t just fossils—they’re genuine pieces of prehistoric history, hand-collected with precision and care. you’re not just buying a fossil, you’re receiving a certified treasure from the seafloor to your hands.

At the age of 12, Chris became a certified diver and it changed his life forever. He moved to Wilmington, NC in 2009 to study marine biology and earned his degree from UNCW. While attending college, Chris worked as a SCUBA instructor and first mate on numerous local dive boats. Along the way, he started to collect Megalodon teeth and fossils that he found while diving off the coast.

Chris became infatuated with diving for Megalodon teeth and continued to elevate his skills and knowledge. Soon after graduating, Chris decided to start his own business with Brett Garner and The Fossil Exchange was born.

Together, Chris and Brett conducted extensive research and spent countless hours exploring the deep water ledges off the coast in search of Megalodon teeth and other prehistoric fossils. As their collection of high quality fossils grew, so did The Fossil Exchange.

Chris takes extreme pride in the fact that every fossil has been personally found and he is passionate about sharing his knowledge with anyone interested in the amazing geology and history that the N.C. waters boast.

Brett was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. After getting SCUBA certified at 17, he immediately made his way to the water. He studied Environmental Science at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington while diving every chance he got. After graduating, he became an instructor to teach SCUBA in the Caribbean Islands. After just one summer, he already missed diving in North Carolina and all it had to offer. He was drawn to diving for Megalodon teeth and learning everything about them. His obsession grew along with his collection. It was natural for him to start a business doing what he loved and to share these fossils with others. Brett feels lucky to have discovered the underwater world and the opportunity to do what he loves.
